Mityana is an Anglican Diocese in Uganda covering an area of 10,000 sq kms. It has a population of approximately 900,000 of whom 50% are children.
The government is introducing Universal Primary Education in Uganda but most children still need to pay fees to go to school and fall badly behind educationally when they can't afford this.
Books for Lent
This year we raised £316 for text books and desks which are urgently needed at Nabukenya Primary School. Each year they are taking in another class at the bottom of the school, and will continue to do this until they reach optimum size. This means that every year they have to equip another class. (Their school year starts in February.)

During Advent we supported the Mityana Charity by buying bicycles for Lay Readers, who often work alone with several churches and walk huge distances. In total £926 was given, which with Gift Aid, is enough for 25 bicycles. 'That's brilliant’ says Ann. 'Do please thank everyone very much indeed. The Readers and Priests who receive bicycles are always over the moon. You'd think it was a new Merc!!’
